Information

After opening in 2009, the Murnau-Filmtheater was largely active as the archive cinema of the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Foundation. In 2012, it made the successful leap from two to five screening days a week. Since then, the variety of programs has been successively expanded: in addition to classics and rarities from the foundation's stock, the cinema offers current arthouse films and documentaries. To round off the screenings, historical film introductions, director talks and topic-related discussions with the audience take place regularly. In addition, well-known film festivals such as the goEast - Festival des mittel- und osteuropäischen Films and the exground filmfest are guests every year.
