Adventure in abstract art: Museum Reinhard Ernst (mre) opens in 2023
Experiencing color with all your senses - you can look forward to that in a few months: With the Museum Reinhard Ernst (mre), the international art scene will have a new, world-class museum with a focus on abstract art. The building was designed by the Japanese star architect Fumihiko Maki. The sole sponsor is the non-profit Reinhard & Sonja Ernst Foundation in Wiesbaden.
Entrepreneur Reinhard Ernst exclusively collects abstract art. Elaborate works by Katharina Grosse, MadC and Karl-Martin Hartmann will welcome visitors in the foyer. The first presentation at the opening will show around 60 positions, some of them large-format, by Helen Frankenthaler, Karl Otto Götz, Hans Hartung, Lee Krasner, Morris Louis, Judit Reigl, Frank Stella, Atsuko Tanaka and Wolfgang Tillmans, among others. The first special exhibition is dedicated to the architect Fumihiko Maki.
