Information

Steinau an der Straße lives up to its epithet "Brothers Grimm Town" with its Brothers Grimm House, the former official residence where the Grimm family lived from 1791 to 1796 and which today houses a permanent exhibition on the life, work and impact of the Brothers Grimm. Since 23 June 2006, however, the Brothers Grimm House has had a partner that is just as interesting for tourists. In the former Amtshof barn, which stands just opposite the Amtshaus, the "Museum Steinau ...das Museum an der Straße" (Steinau Museum ...the Museum on the Road) was opened. Here, the museum director Burkhard Kling has developed a concept that presents Steinau as a typical stop on the trade route.
