Under the roof of the community centre, the village life of the past comes back to life. The museum showcases glimpses of life in the last century. The domestic culture becomes clear as you walk through the kitchen, bedroom and parlour.
The ‘Wheel of Work’ serves as a reminder of typical trades and domestic activities, with the workstations of the wheelwright, cooper, cobbler, housewife, seamstress and hairdresser arranged around it, alongside numerous tools and everyday objects.
At the former communal weigh house, you’ll find tools used in small-scale farming. Information panels and a picture gallery explain the activities necessary for daily life in the respective historical periods and living conditions of the town’s residents.
The museum not only showcases the world of the last century, but also invites visitors to guess and get involved. Young and old alike can experiment with various exhibits and pick up curious items from the ‘What’s What’ cupboard to match them with their original purposes.
