Heimatmuseum Krofdorf-Gleiberg
35435 Wettenberg – Krofdorf-Gleiberg
Opening hours as announced in the press
The local history museum displays over 2,000 exhibits. Permanent exhibition areas include: life and work in the past, a farmer’s workshop and agricultural tools, forestry work, a summer kitchen, traditional costumes, brewing and the hospitality trade, the fire service, a school classroom, a cobbler’s workshop and crafts.
There are also exhibits on spinning and weaving, cigar-making (a home-based workshop) and the regional history of clubs, churches, the Free Religious Community, forced labour, persecution and resistance during the ‘Third Reich’. This is complemented in the BVD Local History Room by exhibits on the history and culture of displaced persons – most of whom originated from the Egerland region – and their arrival and integration.
On opening days, there are changing special exhibitions and events on local history and cultural themes, customs and readings.
Baking just like in great-grandma’s day for children in the museum’s bakehouse is a popular part of these events during the holiday programme.
