Information

Housed in the building of the old Rost School, dating from 1731, right next to the Protestant Town Church, the museum is dedicated to the folk and everyday culture of the Lumda Valley.

Lovingly collected and expertly arranged, the individual exhibits are carefully contextualised in relation to one another, thus reflecting the rural and village life of a small town in Upper Hesse in days gone by.

Key areas of the collection

- Extensive collection of Dreihäuser stoneware

- Traditional costume room featuring everyday and Sunday attire from the Lumda Valley and Protestant costumes from Marburg

- Corner shop

A 1950s museum, showcasing the interior design of that era, is also part of the museum complex, as is the town tower dating from 1370. Museum visitors are warmly invited to enjoy a cosy chat in the museum cellar.
