Information

Bad Homburg Castle was built under landgrave Friedrich II by the architect Paul Andrich in 1679-86. The "White Tower" is the remaining bergfried of the original castle. The baroque complex, grouped around two courtyards, was altered in the early 19th century by the court master builder Georg Moller from Darmstadt and once more at the beginning of the 20th century. The castle was the residence of the Landgraves of Hesse-Homburg until 1866 and after that a popular summer residence of the Prussian kings and German emperors.
