Wölfersheimer Energie Museum
Wölfersheimer Energie Museum
61200 Wölfersheim
Energy, especially its production, is currently a widespread topic of highest interest. This has always been the case in Wölfersheim. For a long time, the community in the middle of the Wetterau region was something like the region's energy center. This is where the briquette-like wet-pressed bricks, gasoline and, above all, electricity were produced from the raw material of brown coal. Many lakes in the area still bear witness to the former lignite mining area. The energy museum was created by the association for the maintenance of the mining and power plant tradition together with the municipality of Wölfersheim. The museum not only shows the mining and processing of brown coal, but also deals with modern energy. The museum is located in a place that is closely linked to the regional mining and power plant tradition, the former OVAG switch house. The museum builds a bridge between the historical energy production by means of brown coal and renewable energies.
