Information

Everything is film: that is the motto of the DFF - Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum e.V. in Frankfurt am Main. Here, visitors can learn how people managed to make images move as early as the 18th and 19th centuries and try out these historical devices for themselves on operable models. An original Darth Vader helmet from the STAR-WARS series as well as an original ALIEN stuntman costume bear witness to more recent film history. Four corresponding screens illustrate the cinematic language with which cinema achieves its effect. If you feel like fighting a praying mantis or exploring the bottom of the sea in a submarine, you can simulate this very realistically in a green screen. Two to three special exhibitions a year on special cinematic themes round off the programme. In its daily changing programme, the in-house cinema presents not only film classics but also the entire spectrum of artistically significant film productions from around the world - usually in the original version.
